Southern New Mexico Pride
has existed in various forms, under various names, for several years. The first recorded picnic was sponsored by a group of lesbians looking for a social activity in 1990. Originally, Las Cruces Pride (as it was then known) consisted of a small group of community members held a picnic in a local park. In the late 1990s, a walking parade was added. It has since grown into a part-year, volunteer-run organization, working in conjunction with local community groups and vendors, to provide a walking parade followed by a picnic, artisans, vendors, and activities in a local park. In 2006, Las Cruces Pride changed its name to Southern NM Pride to represent more communities. In 2008, Southern NM Pride was honored by Albuquerque Pride with its Honored Dignitary-Emerging Leader award.

Unitarian Universalist Church of Las Cruces
Our church welcomes everyone who desires spiritual development in an open atmosphere with respect for differences. Unitarian Universalism teaches that all have value and all should be cherished and respected, regardless of culture, faith, sexual orientation, physical being or family situation. Many sources inspire our free and open approach to religion including the world's religions, science, and direct spiritual experience. Our pluralistic view is based on our belief that no single religious way can capture the mysteries of creation. Together, we struggle with the great questions: who are we? where do we come from? and where are we going? We do not provide answers, but rather, companionship and strength for the journey. Here, we encourage seeking and developing our own truth within a community of seekers. We welcome you, your questions and willingness to grow. Our minister is Rev. Rod Thompson. Services are Sundays, 9:00 and 10:30 am. The door is open.
